Les Cornettes, the authenticity of a 3-star hotel in Haute-Savoie
In the heart of the Abondance Valley, stay in a hotel complex with a family feel for an incredibly relaxing experience, whether you choose to visit in summer or winter. The complex’s facilities include four different types of rooms and apartments, an independent chalet which can be entirely privatised, a traditional Savoyard restaurant, a bar and a brasserie, a terrace, a spa, a farm building for parties and events, a cosy lounge, a children’s area and more.
Just 200 metres from the closest ski lifts and located in the heart of the ski area of Les Portes du Soleil, Les Cornettes provides its guests with a ski room for storage and offers discounted rates when hiring equipment at its partner rental shop.
A family affair for 5 generations
It all began back in 1894 when Victor Command and his wife decided to transform their farm into an inn. It was called “Au Mont des Cornettes” and had twenty rooms by 1904.
1925 was a turning point in the property’s history: Victor Command passed away and one of his daughters, Pauline, and her husband François Trincaz, the Mayor of Bernex, took the helm. Pauline Trincaz was a talented chef and a real people person; she embodied the essence of Alpine hospitality for many of the hotel’s guests.
During the 1930s, tourism and winter sports experienced rapid development, enabling François and Pauline to further improve their property. Together, they had 4 children: Francis, Régis, Gabriel and André.
Gabriel, known as Gaby, followed in his mother’s footsteps and trained in Courchevel. There, in 1952, he met Jeanine Billat, a charismatic employee at La Loze Hotel. Three years later, they got married and began to manage Les Cornettes, constantly improving its facilities and the quality of its food.
Gaby and Jeanine had two sons: Bernard and Philippe. In 1976, the two brothers built La Résidence du Chablais, now known as the Espace Colombe, and developed the concept of “independent” holidays: accommodation with or without half board. Supported by their wives, Sylvie and Marie-Christine, the brothers continued the property’s transformation, building a spa, a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and La Ferme du Papy Gaby, a venue for dinners and events, with a smokehouse and a dryer.
In 2013, Philippe and his family chose to manage the Fleur de Neige hotel in Châtel. Bernard Trincaz continued his work at Les Cornettes, offering guests Savoyard cuisine which reflects who he is: generous, sincere and true to his roots. Dishes are home-made, created with ingredients supplied by local producers, with whom the hotel has developed close working relationships. Bernard Trincaz and his wife Sylvie share their love of simplicity and authenticity with their children, Jeremy and Virginie.
